What suggestions do you have to improve ConnectCarolina? The feedback given here will be used to assist the Users Forum in prioritizing communication with ITS.
Faculty, staff, and students are now in the same forum (due to outrageous pricing demands by UserVoice). Our apologies, we’re working on a better solution.

Student: Easier to get to
It would be nice to go to connectcarolina.unc.edu and then sign in and be on the page. It's annoying to have to go to my.unc.edu, sign in, find Connect Carolina in the ever-changing middle menu, and then go there.

Student: Improve the performance of the system
During peak undergrad usage period (the weeks surrounding and including registration as well as the first week of the semester) ConnectCarolina has struggled significantly in terms of user response. Given the competitive nature of undergrad registration at Carolina, students need a system that will respond quickly to their requests allowing them to register for the classes they need.
Certainly this is a broad complaint; however, I think that it is imperative for the ConnectCarolina team to consider ways to make ConnectCarolina responsive and robust even at peak usage times.

Student: Let us search by a range of course numbers
Right now we can only search for courses equal to, less than, or greater than a certain number, but it'd be very useful to search in a range (to cut out grad courses, for instance).

If a course has reserved seats, let us know if we meet those requirements before we register
Right now, we can only see that a course has enrollment restrictions (reserved seats) but not whether we meet those restrictions or who could meet those restrictions. We have to wait until we register to find out whether we can even enroll in the course. It'd also be nice, but less important, to know what the restrictions are (for majors, for upperclassmen, etc).

Staff: Screen similar to 1el needed
Need a screen similar to 1el (SIS) with semesters tally, GPA, eligibility, etc. in one place

Student: Let you see how many spots are open in a course from the Shopping Cart
Right now, the only way to see how many seats or spots open in a class is to search for it--you can't see it when you click on the item if it's already in your shopping cart.

Student: Transcripts for the Registrar
ConnectCarolina needs to be improved on the side of administration because the registrars office is taking way too long to get transcripts validated and printed due to the new ConnectCarolina system. It's 2011. This should not be a problem.

Staff: PLEASE give us more than 20 minutes before timeout!
We're told this is "best practice" but it's not "best anything" when we constantly lose what we're doing and have to do it over and over again! Also, EPro doesn't have a 20-minute timeout, so it would seem to be possible to give us more time on the student side!

Faculty: Print Photos with Class Rosters
Currently, as TAs / TFs / Faculty members, to access student pictures, we must scroll through individual records to access photos of students. One of the most effective means of providing a classroom environment conducive to learning is to learn the student's names yourselves and quickly. One of the easiest ways to do this is through visualization of photos and names together. Providing a photo roll will increase the speed with which we can learn names and ultimately help us be more effective educators.

Student: Change the default term for registration and grades
Last semester when registering for spring 2011 classes, the system defaulted to the fall 2010 term. This forced you to go back and change the term to the spring 2011 term in order to register. Instead of having the system default to the term that is currently in progress, it would be much easier if the upcoming term was defaulted as soon as its shopping cart was made available. Also, it would be much easier if the default term for grades was the most recent term to have been completed instead of the current term, as there will actually be…

Extend wait lists until the last day to add courses.
Now that ConnectCarolina does a great job managing registration wait lists, why not give departments the option to extend the life of the waitlist until the last day to add a course?

Staff: Less steps
It would be great to have less steps to doing any action, esp. admissions. Without the Graduate School notes to follow, it's not easy to do an admit or deny like it was with Admission Pros.

It's always a huge hassle to get back to the main page.

Student: Make it more intuitive.
Information is not where you expect it to be. We are a computer-savy audience. We shouldn't have to read a manual to use a webpage.

Student: Get rid of the "Invalid Session" screen when you click on the Student Center
Often when I login to my.unc.edu and click on Student Center I get a page that says "Session Expired" and asks me to logout and it is really annoying.
