      Did you get a Remedy ticket / Help Request number when you reported this to ITS? Can I have the number so I can follow up with the ConnectCarolina team?

        I asked Chris Derickson (the Registrar) about unofficial transcripts and he said that students should always be able to get one and he was concerned about hearing that students were refused. After I mentioned my experience, he said that students with holds should still be able to get unofficial transcripts (holds only block official transcripts) and the situation should now be corrected.

        Students *should* be able to get print unofficial transcripts--I got one a couple of weeks ago (after I got my holds lifted); it's just not very obvious that the option is available (and that it's free). I'll look into this a bit more for you.

        Thanks for the feedback--just to make sure I get everything right; you want a single page that has both all grades and cumulative information?

        The GPA Calculator page does have overall stats--is there a reason students can't just print out both the Course History and GPA Calculator pages instead of grade reports for each semester? I'm not trying to say there shouldn't be a single page with all info, just trying to improve the situation today.

        I know the Registrar's office has wanted to offer online unofficial transcripts and are looking into the feasibility of the process, but I don't know any specific timeline on that.

          As an undergrad, I can't say I'm too familiar with the grade center (although I did some beta testing for it, so I'm familiar a bit), but I was wondering why faculty's grades would not be posted--don't all grades submitted and approved by faculty get posted (after being passed through the Registrar's Office)?

            Thanks for the feedback--are you suggesting a single "save and enroll" button from the search results page that would bypass the shopping cart and auto-enroll you in a course? I'm just trying to make sure I understand your idea.

              Thanks for the feedback--we're definitely advocating for a more easy-to-use system. Do you have any particular examples of information that isn't where you expect it to be that we could look into?

                I completely agree (both with the desire for open-in-tabbable links and that that was Mie's core comment)--we just wanted to insure we had completely understood the suggestion, including any side issues (such as not being able to get back to main pages).

                I'm unsure about your assertion, though, that we can register for both Fall and Spring classes simultaneously--as far as I understand it, registration through ConnectCarolina is only allowed through the first couple of weeks of a semester, and registration for the following semester doesn't open until after halfway through the semester, although I agree multiple terms can overlap (one for grades, one for registration, etc.)

                It looks like (when I tested the system just now) that even if you have multiple instances of ConnectCarolina open the system doesn't treat them as independent--eg when you do something on one it messes up the other. Was that your experience?

                Mie,

                You can get back to the main page by clicking on the (>>) buttons at the top or bottom of the page (next to the drop-downs containing "Student Center"); that will take you back to the main ConnectCarolina page. I agree navigation could be improved in any case.

                (Or am I also not understanding what you're saying?)

                  Michael, I use that link as well. However, it sometimes doesn't work due to what looks like old session cookies floating around (although frankly that happens through the portal as well) and as far as I can tell the ConnectCarolina team doesn't think it's as simple as making a redirect to that address. However, I will ask them again and see.

                    Dr. Hobbs,

                    Thanks for your feedback! Just so I'm sure I understand, when you say "app pages" do you mean "applicant pages" (eg: students applying to your school that you need to evaluate) or "application pages" (eg: ConnectCarolina webpages that you need to access, such as course rolls)?

                    In either case, I definitely agree that the number of steps and links to go through before you can get to useful pages in ConnectCarolina is pretty high, and we'll work to reduce and streamline that.

                      Thanks for your feedback! We appreciate that you're using the forum!

                      I understand (and agree) that the system in general can be clunky. However, are you referring to anything in particular (say, looking up course rolls, or applicant information) that's particularly difficult? Is it the search page itself that's difficult to use or just getting to the right page to do a search?

                      It's easier for us to discuss problems or suggest improvements to the ConnectCarolina team when we have specific examples or suggestions we can use. We do appreciate your feedback in any case, so we can gather ideas of general opinions of the system and what areas need improvement more than others!

                                The ConnectCarolina team reports this is expected behavior for the system; thus making this an idea for a feature request (instead of a bug, which goes through a different process). The Users Forum will review this idea with the others on this forum.

                                I did however set its status as "declined" so it doesn't show up in the main list of items to be considered; because it frankly isn't going to happen, and I'm trying to encourage feedback like this, which points out problems in the new system.

                                On the sidenote, though, the cost of ConnectCarolina is a bit of a misnomer because the system is still quite a few years away from being fully implemented--while the initial release of the academic side is out (which is why this forum exists, so we can suggest feedback), there are several other components of ConnectCarolina, including HR, Finance, data warehousing, and eProcurement systems which will be coming out over the next series of years, so the project is nowhere near completion.

                                That all being said, this issue sounds to me like it might be an actual bug, and not just a suggestion/enhancement, so I'm following up with the ConnectCarolina team. I'll let you know what I hear back from them.

                                    As I suggested in another thread, as far as I remember there's a link back to the main page on the top and bottom of every page ([Student Center] (>>))--could you be more specific as to what could be done to make it easier to return to the main page?

                                      It might also be helpful to rename "Course History" in the dropdown as something like "Grades: Course History" or "Grades: History"--that would make it a lot more discoverable in my mind.
